- What is the KCC Steering Committee?
The Kentucky Cancer Consortium (KCC) Steering Committee provides leadership by guiding the focus and direction for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Cancer Action Plan for Kentucky (CAP). This group also encourages coordination and collaboration among state-wide groups and organizations.

- How does the Steering Committee differ from task forces/strategic planning or statewide coalitions?

The focus of the Steering Committee is to guide a collaborative process through which a community and its partners pool resources to promote cancer prevention, improve cancer detection, increase access to health and social services, and reduce the burden of cancer.
- This directive is funded and supported through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC supports Comprehensive Cancer Control efforts in all state, tribal, and territorial health agencies in the U.S. http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/ncccp/

The focus is comprehensive (prevention, early detection, treatment and care, quality of life) rather than one individual disease site or specialty area.

- How often does the Steering Committee meet?
The Steering Committee meets every other month, usually in Frankfort, KY.
- How long is someone on the Steering Committee?
There is no term limit of membership on the Steering Committee. An individual can be a member of the Steering Committee as long as they represent an organization which has a broad focus and major commitment to cancer prevention and control.
- How can a person or organization be added to the Steering Committee?
Potential members are typically nominated by a current member of the Steering Committee. A favorable decision for a potential member requires a majority vote.
