What kinds of things do operational committees do?
Operational committees provide specialized cross-cutting support that enhances cancer control efforts across the continuum of cancer control – prevention/risk reduction, early detection/screening, better treatment and enhanced survivorship/quality of life. They focus on areas of ongoing critical need and work to increase the overall impact of comprehensive cancer control in Kentucky.
The following roles are applicable to all operational committees:
- Strive to maintain a cross-cutting focus.
- Stay current with information related to area of interest.
- Support Regional Cancer Partners.
- Identify and recruit new Ad Hoc Committee members.
- Track in-kind contributions to KCC.
- Report progress to Steering Committee quarterly.
- Encourage and facilitate coordination and collaboration on cancer control efforts.
- Provide updated membership list to Program Staff as applicable.
- Attend meetings
How long is tenure on an operational committee?
There is no term limit of membership as an operational Committee member.
How can I get involved in an operational committee?
Membership in operational committees is voluntary and open to any organization, group or individual who meet the following criteria:
- Have particular interest in a specific area of cancer prevention and control in Kentucky
- Demonstrate experience and/or expertise in that specific area or a related field
- Endorse the function, mission and role of the KCC.
