Cancer Action Plan Committees

Cancer Action Plan committees form around specific needs and gaps that have a statewide focus. Formed and dissolved as needed, these committees work to increase the overall impact of comprehensive cancer control in Kentucky. Membership on a Cancer Action Plan committee is voluntary and open to any organization, group or individual who meet the following criteria:

  • Have particular interest in a specific area of cancer prevention and control in Kentucky.
  • Demonstrate experience and/or expertise in that specific area or a related field.
  • Endorse the function, mission and role of the KCC.

Members on Cancer Action Plan committees may represent state-level organizations or groups or be concerned individuals who provide expertise in a particular area of cancer control.

Current Cancer Action Plan committees are:

  • Colon Cancer Prevention
    This committee works to increase the number of Kentuckians receiving appropriate colon cancer screening. Chair: Bill Beam, Colon Cancer Prevention Committee.

  • Public Policy
    Responsible for monitoring the current political environment as it relates to decision-making about cancer prevention and control. The Committee makes policy recommendations to the KCC and informs the Consortium of timely opportunities to educate policymakers.

  • REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health)

  • Survivorship
    This committee works to better the quality of life for Kentucky cancer survivors.
